Below are just a few of some of the common questions that we are asked on a regular basis. If you have any more questions, never hesitate to contact us to see how we can help.
Why are my water bills so high?
If you are noticing unusually high water bills that aren’t related to use, it may be because you have a leak in your pipelines. A leak can be caused by many reasons such as a clog, tree root intrusion, or simple age and weakening. If you have a leak, a professional at NuFlow can easily locate it and recommend a repair using our trenchless technology.
What are trenchless repairs?
Trenchless repairs do not require us to dig on your property. This is becoming the new standard in the plumbing industry because it allows us to provide accurate repairs in a quick and affordable way. Common trenchless services include camera inspections, sewer lining, and hydro jetting. Without any need to dig or excavate, trenchless repairs are often cheaper, faster, and cleaner.
What kind of water heater is right for me?
Conventional tank water heaters used to be the standard and are still commonly used in a majority of homes. Tankless water heaters are becoming a more popular option, however, because they take up less space and have a longer life-span. Regardless, both water heater styles have their benefits and consequences. We are available to discuss which option best fits you and your property’s needs.
How can I tell if I have a leak?
If you think that you may have a leak in your pipeline, then you can use your meter to find out. This is a fairly simple process:
- Go out to your meter and record the water level
- Avoid using the water for a few hours
- Check the water level again – if it has changed, you probably have a leak.
If your suspicions were confirmed, an expert at NuFlow can locate the exact area of the leak and recommend the best repair for you.
What is CIPP lining?
Cured-in-place-pipelining (CIPP) is a trenchless method that is used for cracked and weakened areas in your line that need replacing. This process involves coating the interior with resin to create a water-tight seal. Once the resin cures, your pipes will be stronger than ever and safe from future leaks or intrusions.
What is a tree root invasion and how can I prevent it?
Tree root invasions are problematic as they create serious clogs and expand the damage of your already weakened line.
The best way to prevent tree root invasions is with routine maintenance. With professional care and cleanings, you will be able to catch any cracks or holes before they are invaded by tree roots.
If I leave a leak, will it get worse?
If you know you have a leak, putting off a repair will cost you serious money and time in the future. Corrosion will expand the weakened area and even make the water harmful to drink and use. In addition, tree roots and other surrounding vegetation will be attracted to your leak and begin growing inside of it, expanding the leak and causing additional damage to your property.
What causes clogs?
Clogs are one of the most common plumbing problems to have and are due to some type of obstruction preventing proper water flow in your lines. Certain clogs are created by the user putting harmful things down the drain such as hair, grease, or waste that can be trapped in your pipes.
Can I clean my own drains?
Walking down your local supermarket will have you believe that the routine maintenance of your pipes and drains is a simple DIY project. The reality is that many drain-clearing chemicals create more damage to the interior of your pipes and will often just mask the problem.
If you want to extend the life of your plumbing system and avoid serious repairs, professional cleaning is the best bet. We have trenchless methods that are impossible to imitate with home remedies.
What can I put down my garbage disposal?
This is a common and important question. Many people make the mistake of thinking anything that fits can be washed down the disposal. The reality is that garbage disposals can only break down soft debris and hard food leftovers such as eggshells, bones, or coffee grounds will just jam it and wear down the system. It is also a good idea to avoid putting any fats, oils, or grease down the drain as they will solidify and create clogs.
When should I get my pipes serviced?
It is recommended to schedule professional maintenance for your plumbing system every year. However, if they are older or acting unusual, you should get them looked at more frequently.
What is a camera inspection?
A camera inspection is the most modern and innovative way to inspect your pipelines. This service involves inserting a small, water-proof, camera into your pipelines from an existing access point. These cameras are navigated throughout your lines by one of our trained technicians. Live footage that is recorded by the camera is then fed back to the technician who can zoom in on anything suspicious or unordinary. Once the inspection is complete, our team will give you an accurate diagnosis and suggest any necessary repairs.
What is hydro-jetting?
Hydro jetting is a popular trenchless cleaning method that is environmentally friendly, safe, and efficient. This service is the most reliable drain cleaning method in the industry and is used in both maintenance and repairs to clear your pipes of grease clogs, tree root intrusions, waste build-up, and mineral deposits and tuberculation.
This process is essentially a hose with a nozzle that is inserted into your pipeline through an existing access point. This nozzle blasts water throughout your pipelines to clear the area of any debris. The pressure of this water is controlled by one of our certified technicians to ensure that waste and debris is removed without harming the walls of your pipe.
When do I need a drain cleaning?
Other than routine maintenance, there are a few other tell-tale symptoms that you need drain cleaning:
- Strange smell – a foul smell usually means that there is waste build-up or a clog in your pipelines and means it is time for a professional cleaning.
- Slow drains – slow draining often indicates a clog. These clogs are often formed by hair that forms a net-like clog that traps soap and other debris, or from fats or grease that solidify in your kitchen drain.
- Gurgling noise – a gurgling noise usually means that water is having trouble passing through your pipes because of build-up or a clog.
- Recurring clogs – if you are noticing recurring clogs, it usually means that you need professional assistance. This is often by a professional cleaning or could be a sign that something more serious is going on.
What are the benefits of trenchless repairs?
Trenchless technology allows us to repair your pipe from the inside without any damage to your property. Here are some of the top benefits of trenchless sewer repairs:
- Affordable
- Non-invasive
- Lower cost of labor
- Accuracy
- Long-lasting results
- Saves time

Why is my toilet running?
Your toilet could be running constantly because of a few reasons. While you can call a professional to inspect and repair your toilet quickly, there are some instances where you can solve the problem yourself:
- The float is broken – the float in your toilet is a metal or plastic ball that rests on the top of your water and sets the water level of your toilet. When it is broken, it causes endless cycles of draining and filling. To fix this, you may be able to simply reposition it, but in the case of a cracked one, you will need to replace it.
- Your chain is too long or too short – if your chain isn’t the right length, it could be getting trapped under the flap in your toilet or prevent sealing. Buying a new one or trimming the length of the long one is usually the solution.
- You have a leaky flapper valve – a flapper valve is at the bottom of your tank and is fairly easy to replace.
